Job Description

OpenSea is building the gateway to the onchain economy - a rich world of communities, assets & creative expression uniquely possible with native digital ownership. Our products support millions of users and have helped shape onchain markets that exist today—and we're just getting started.

Our goal is to build the highest-leverage, most AI-native team in crypto (and ideally beyond.) We believe that a small team (broken into even smaller teams with extreme ownership) can accomplish enormous results with the right people, the right tools, and the right company-wide investments in AI. We are building that team.

We’re looking for a highly skilled, creative and self-driven Staff Product Designer to join OpenSea’s small but mighty design team. In this role, you’ll help define the future of how people discover, trade, and interact with digital assets—working closely with engineers and fellow designers to bring clarity and craft to complex problems. Design plays a central role in shaping product direction and strategy, so this position is ideal for someone who combines strong product thinking with exceptional visual craft. Beyond designing great products, you'll help evolve the systems, workflows, and AI-enabled practices that make the entire team more effective builders. If you’re energized by ownership, collaboration, and the chance to design for millions of users in a fast-evolving space, we’d love to meet you.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design initiatives from concept through launch, collaborating closely with engineers and other designers to define and deliver high-quality user experiences.

  • Channel design thinking into our product development process, ensuring we’re solving real user problems with consistency and simplicity

  • Hone open-ended product ideas into actionable design directions through research, prototyping, and iteration.

  • Create end-to-end experiences across mobile and web, balancing user needs, technical feasibility, and business goals while maintaining a high bar for visual quality, polish, and brand expression.

  • Contribute to and evolve our design system to raise quality, consistency, and efficiency across all OpenSea surfaces while helping designers and engineers build more effectively through emerging AI-powered tools and practices.

  • Explore and champion new design and AI-enabled workflows that improve team effectiveness and expand what's possible for product development.

  • Communicate design rationale clearly and effectively across disciplines, helping align teams around shared goals.

  • Help shape the design culture at OpenSea by modeling strong craft, collaboration, and curiosity.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of product design experience, across both consumer and platform-facing products

  • Demonstrated ability to own complex, ambiguous problem spaces and turn them into elegant, intuitive solutions

  • Strong product sense—comfortable thinking strategically and operating without the structure of a large product org

  • Strong experience designing mobile-first products, with a deep understanding of what makes for an intuitive, polished mobile experience.

  • Exceptional visual design and interaction design skills, with a portfolio that demonstrates strong aesthetic judgement, systems thinking, and meticulous attention to detail

  • Experience building, scaling, or maintaining design systems, component libraries, or other frameworks that improve product quality, consistency, and team velocity

  • Experience collaborating closely with engineers to ship high-quality, technically informed designs

  • Experience leveraging AI tools and workflows to improve design quality, efficiency, and team effectiveness

  • Breadth across UI, UX, motion & interaction, with particular strength in visual design, craft, and aesthetic execution

  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence and align cross-functional partners

The base salary for this full-time position, spanning multiple internal levels depending on qualifications, ranges from $175,000 to $275,000 USD for candidates based in the United States and $148,750 to $233,750 USD for candidates based in the European Union, plus benefits & equity. Compensation for candidates based outside of the US and EU will vary to reflect local market conditions.

If you don't think you meet all of the criteria above but still are interested in the job, please apply. Nobody checks every box, and we're looking for someone who is excited to join the team.
